Inside the Box: December 2006
Greetings! I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving holiday. We have been busy here at Small Box. Here is what is going on followed by some thoughts on technology.

Hickman + Associates- we recently completed www.hickmanassociates.com and are proud to herald its re-launch. Hickman Associates is a Carmel, Indiana ad agency founded in 1968 that focuses on public relations, crisis management and advertising. Their previous site was based in Flash which made it difficult to manage and invisible to search engines. These issues were resolved with a ground up re-build in PHP with a MySQL database. We also created a password protected management back end which enables them to update their own content via the web.
Fiscal Tax- we have re-launched www.fiscaltax.com for the Fiscal Tax Company. This site was created to provide information about the company to prospective customers as well as training materials for their over 30 local franchisees.
The Good Earth- we were recently contracted by this long standing Broad Ripple health food store to oversee a re-design of their website. We are moving quickly on this project and look to have it up by the end of the year.
Musical Family Tree- we recently held the Second Annual Musical Family Tree Festival here in Indianapolis. With 26 bands and 4 shows over 2 days there was something for everyone. The shows were a success with lots of people turning out to support local music. Also we just opened the Musical Family Tree store just in time for Christmas. So stop by, buy some great Indiana music (perfect gifts!) and check out everything else going on at Musicalfamilytree.com.
We have many other exciting projects in the wings but until the ink is dry we will have to keep mum on those!

The Coming Tide of Mobile Technology- Here's a prediction- expect to start seeing mobile websites advertised by companies in the near future. Here is a good example of a mobile site- http://mobile.palmone.com.
Many companies are realizing that their websites are not appearing well on mobile devices which are increasingly being used to browse the web. Let us know if our company can help create a mobile version of your website for you.

ROI Comparison: Yellow Pages vs. Google- We sometimes encounter businesses who have a little sticker shock when we present them with a proposal in the thousands for their new website. They know they need a website but they don't understand how it could possibly cost more than a few hundred dollars. Although they don't have an issue with spending thousands on a Yellow Pages ad they aren't convinced that they could see a similar or greater return with a website optimized for search engines.
